This is some kind of farewell.

I know. I know.

You subscribed to this website sometime during a previous geological era (or 2011 to be accurate), and for the next seven years (until 2018) I’d updated frequently, after which I’d then kept in touch for roughly as often as Halley’s Comet. The day of this farewell you might have noticed, immediately upon your visit, that the header is gone, that I’ve removed over 500 articles from this website, and that it looks like I’m… moving out.

I am.

However, I’ve kept published on this website two exegetical posts—your two favorites—because I know you love to reference them. I’ve also retained two posts of social commentary. I will retain this domain for you. And finally I’ve left up the first post written here, for the demonstrative purpose that the very first post was also about arriving from somewhere else and about shifting registers from literature to feminism. And although these two subjects are not separable, my journey has circled my online presence back to the previous register.

I bear news as well:

My debut novel will be published. It’s speculative literary fiction. You can learn about it and its release date here: https://anahitanisasultana.com/serenade-to-saturn/

Some writers maintain a consistent online presence. I chose a more mysterious strategy called “accidental disappearance.” I seem to have cultivated the publication schedule of long silences interrupted by sudden announcements.

The novel has a title, Serenade to Saturn, and—most improbably of all—a publication date that is March 8, 2027. International Women’s Day. There’s an opportunity on the page to subscribe for updates about its release and about preorders.
