Commenting

Commenting is a privilege, not a right.

The comments policy is subject to change.

The comments policy is dictated with the intention of promoting constructive conversation and preventing useless and reckless derailing. Diversity of opinions is welcome. Witty responses are enjoyed.

Islamophobic, sexist, genderist, classist, anti-Semitic, racist, transphobic, ableist, anti-choice, or otherwise oppressive comments will not be accepted. This is a safe place.

The objective is not censorship or to police vocabulary, but to limit the use of slurs and adjust societal values so that sexism and racism are entirely unacceptable. Real, structural dialogue promoted–no white noise drowning out the productive conversation.

Discuss the issues, not the politics. Make honest attempts to remain on topic and refrain from sweeping generalizations of underprivileged groups and from personal attacks aimed at other commenters. If you have an actual point amidst the offensive and irrelevant material, reword your comment and try again. Your insightful contributions are welcome, not your defensive insecurities. Know your privilege. Think, edit, speak. Ask questions in good faith, and not just to stir outrage.

No slut-shaming. No prude-shaming.

This is FEMINIST territory. No nice guys allowed. No MRAs or Privilege Denying Dudes either.

…And no PUAs.
