The adhan is the Islamic call to prayer. For whatever reason, I’ve discovered a recording. So! If you care to listen:
Allahu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
Allahu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
Allahu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
Allahu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illa llah
I bear witness that there is no deity except God.
Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illa llah
I bear witness that there is no deity except God.
Ash-hadu anna Muħammadan-Rasulullah
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
Ash-hadu anna Muħammadan-Rasulullah
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
Hayya ‘ala s-salah
Come to prayer !
Hayya ‘ala s-salah
Come to prayer !
Hayya ‘ala ‘l-falah
Come to success !
Hayya ‘ala ‘l-falah
Come to success !
Allāhu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
Allāhu Akbar
God is [the] Greatest.
La ilaha illa-Allah
There is no deity except God.
Your voice is really gorgeous and sweet! You sound like you’re crying at one part? Or tired

1:32–1:34 Actually I was laughing at that part.. eek! But tired; oh this was during a heatwave after a picnic, so I don’t doubt it.

It sounds authentic! I thought that was how it was supposed to sound hahah

Maybe? I was really, really thirsty… Also this is the first time I had to do it loudly enough for everyone to hear (and be serious about it)… I usually just say it to myself.
But shhh, authentic we’ll just tell people that. ;)
Actually I cringed when I heard it but decided meh you might as well hear the worst of me.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s so beautiful. I like the Hayya ‘ala s-salah part, and the ending.

Oh thank you Rebekka! I didn’t think it could have that effect…

Oh the adhan (when done right) has that effect on me, it can be very beautiful. Done wrong, on the other hand, it can sound harsh, shrill and plain annoying. (And that’s not to say I get to decide what’s “right” and “wrong”.)

Oh, that’s so pretty Nahida! And don’t worry, I kind of like the idea of an imam who laughs when she calls the azan.

21. But I sound like a 6-year-old on any recording device.

Rebekka mentioned getting positive spine-chills; I got a very warm, very pure sort of enveloping…something. Just to hear a woman call the adhan is a delight. :-)
