I couldn’t write
because
I don’t have a story.
I don’t remember anything
but the towers
burning.
And animosity.
At school I pledged allegiance
to a flag half mast
and a country I never
betrayed
a country that had
betrayed me.
I didn’t cry.
because I was
unworthy
of shedding tears.
Who cares if the enemy
cries?
Beautifully expressed. Love the last lines, especially. I can relate.
