Does anyone love Enya? I heard one of her songs when I was very young, and it made me cry more than once—though not the lyrics as much as the music itself. But whenever I brought it up, my friends would scowl or roll their eyes or wrinkle their noses and pronounce, “But it’s so slow.” Well, none of that stopped me from loving it. I’ve partly forgotten the unbearable yearning it made me feel once, but it still has a special place in my heart, alongside Tori Amos’s “A Sorta Fairytale” and Jewel’s “Foolish Games.” Both of which were also, to the horror of many, so slow.
Luckily, I don’t like songs based on speed.
I’m banned from listening to Enya or Ofra Haza or Dead Can Dance (check them out, you might LOVE). With my hormones all over the map, I just break down sobbing at the clear beauty of their voices.

But Nahida, music is haraam.
Totally kidding!
Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” has been known to make me cry. I love Tori Amos, but cannot listen to her without getting uncomfortably sad.

I love Enya. My favorite from her is “On Your Shore”

I actually love Enya, and I’ve had the exact same response when I’ve told people that. It is slow, but I tend to listen to it when I’m feeling ill or trying to relax, so I think it fits.
PS Good luck with finals!
