The Catholic Church Says Mother Theresa Should Have Been More Busy Speaking Out Against Abortion Instead of Ensuring Actual, Living Children Survive

Charity, it’s so overrated. Washington Post, via Feministe

A prominent U.S. Catholic nuns group said Thursday that it was “stunned” that the Vatican reprimanded it for spending too much time on poverty and social-justice concerns and not enough on condemning abortion and gay marriage.

In a stinging report on Wednesday, the Vatican said the Leadership Conference of Women Religious had been “silent on the right to life” and had failed to make the “Biblical view of family life and human sexuality” a central plank in its agenda.

It also reprimanded American nuns for expressing positions on political issues that differed, at times, from views held by U.S. bishops. Public disagreement with the bishops — “who are the church’s authentic teachers of faith and morals” — is unacceptable, the report said.

How dare women disagree with bishops and other self-appointed gatekeepers! IN PUBLIC.

I can’t believe they have the AUDACITY to actually work to engender and espouse all the inherent goodness in religion like charity and hard work in very difficult conditions instead of being submissive to men and stuff! UNACCEPTABLE. Nuns should stop helping the sick, poor, orphaned, and dying so much and instead focus more on how women shouldn’t have rights. Let’s humiliate them more than we do our child molesters.

  1. Erm, just to let you know, actually Mother Theresa worked VERY hard against abortion (one of the few things I have against her), so much she’d fly to Ireland (which she otherwise had no connection to), to really the Catholics to vote AGAINST the right to abortion – a right Irish women still do not have.

Aside from that, completely agree with you.

    1. Yes, I know that about her. My point is that she wasn’t hypocritical about it, went out of her way to care for children, to the point at which I would say it’s practically compensation. Considering that takes up valuable time and commitment that might have otherwise been spent preaching, still not enough for them.

My holiness!! This is unbelievable! How dare they talk about those nuns like that? Are those bishops gay themselves who are trying to conceal the fact by preaching about gay marriage abolishment or what? This is nonsense! Although I don’t agree about Mother Theresa’s policy on abortion, she surely is one of the world’s most influential women who deserve a certain amount of respect (unlike those freaky bishops).

This woman who styled herself as mother theresa of calcutta was a supporter of poverty, an anti feminist, a friend of dictators and someone who deliberately and cruelly prolonged the suffering and pain of the dying. There is also significant mystery surrounding the whereabouts of all the money she received in donations. they certainly didn’t go into her “clinics” which were a disgrace to medicine. Unhygeinic, badly run and dangerous, they simply played their part in reinforcing the Mother Theresa cult.
